BrickVest’s latest commercial property investment barometer report on commercial property investment has revealed that, in the last quarter of 2017, Britain overtook Germany as the top place for commercial property investment.

The stats show that Germany experienced a drop to 23% in popularity. Investment in the UK, meanwhile, rose from 27% to 29%, making it the top place to invest. The fall in German property investment is the largest decrease since the second quarter of 2016.

US and France both gained around a fifth (19%) in popularity among commercial property investors.

Although London is the prime location for commercial property investment, there has been a rise in other cities – notably Birmingham, Newcastle and Bristol.

The CEO of BrickVest, Emmanuel Lumineau commented:

“Our latest Barometer reveals that Germany is no longer the favoured destination for commercial real estate investment, contrary to its position in Q3 2017. Rather, the UK has once again become the most popular region for our investors.”

The BrickVest report is based on a survey of 3,000 professional real estate investors.

Britain attracts commercial property investors from both home and overseas. It is particularly attractive for overseas investors due to the current weak state of sterling, which results in the exchange rate favouring investors based outside of the UK.

Commercial mortgages are available at low rates for property investors. A mortgage broker will be able to find the best deals for anyone wanting to purchase commercial property within the UK.
